Dialog Buys Suntel for 34 Million US Dollars
Sri Lanka’s largest telecommunication provider Dialog Axiata announced that they will buy Suntel for 34 million US dollars, which is owned by the Sweden’s Overseas Telecom AB. This merging will create the most powerful internet and the broadband service provider in Sri Lanka and the second largest fixed line telecommunication provider in Sri Lanka.
As a result all 382 base stations of Suntel will be taken over by Dialog Broadband Fixed unit. Dialog Axiata group CEO Dr.Hans Wijesooriya said that merging of two companies (will improve the economies of scale) and the new expanding fiber optic network of the Dialog Axiata will help the firm to provide the broadband services with high quality at an affordable price in the future.
According to the records Dialog fixed Broadband unit has itself generated a revenue of 1.8 billion rupees from the beginning of 2011 to the September ending.
