@kasun:
Can you please make sure that above menu is available in your Android phone? Because some customized Android versions don’t allow you to access the above menu (mobile phones with country/network lock).
If the above menu setting is ok, then turn data connection on. Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Data Enabled
Select to Enable Data.
Then turn GPRS on in your Dialog connection. Type GPRS and send to 678.
If the above menus are not available on your mobile device due to any country or network lock, then it is not possible to setup the mobile phone manually. Bring it to the nearest Dialog customer support center.
You can also try this:
Dial 0777678678 (Postpaid Hotline) or 0777123456 (Prepaid Hotline) and access the menu option “To access and activate services” and then select the sub option “To receive GPRS/MMS settings press 3” and thereafter confirm the request to receive the settings on your phone.

Regarding Samsung galaxy S2 GPRS Settings :

I received settings and installed manually, and APN settings showing installed ppwap (i’m on prepaid) , MMS settings provided by dialog. but GPRS not working . is there any brief instructions ?

<span class='registered'>Support</span>
Support (URL)
07-05-’12 22:27

@Sharma:
You can use either ppwap or dialogbb on prepaid. But usually Dialog sends dialogbb for smartphones. Since Samsung Galaxy is an Android smartphone, set it to dialogbb and set all other settings as above. Then Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Data Enabled
Select and Enable Data.
Please note that in Dialog, GPRS is not actaveted by default (not pre activated). You have to activate GPRS if you have not activated it. To activate GPRS on your connection Type GPRS and send to 678.

@MADU:
First, please let us know whether your GPRS (data connection) is working or not. Because specially in Dialog postpaid, GPRS is not pre activated. If GPRS connection is already activated then turn data on of your Android. Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Data Enabled Select and Enable Data.

<span class='registered'>Support</span>

29-05-’12 19:57

@aru:
It depends on your type of connection (prepaid/postpaid). It is recommended to call 1777 from your Dialog mobile for assistance.
But if you are on BlackBerry prepaid you can easily deactivate the package by sending a SMS.
If you are on BB15 prepaid package, type OFF BB15 and send to 678.
If your package is BB25, type OFF BB25 and send to 678.

@mwsandun:
We have tested these settings successfully in Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i) with Android 2.3.4 update. There should not be any issue if you have activated GPRS on your Dialog connection. Please make sure that GPRS is activated on your Dialog connection. To activate type GPRS and send to 678.

Most network locked Android powered LG phones from Korea doesn’t have the Access point names menu under Mobile networks. First can you please verify that the above menu is currently available in your phone? If the menu is available and if all settings are okay then activate GPRS on your Dialog connection. Please provide more information about the issue. When did you setup the settings given above for the first time? We are making slight changes time to time. Please mention when it stopped working and your package details. If you are on prepaid make sure you’ve enough credit or if you are on postpaid make sure your GPRS connection is not disconnected due to late payments.

I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S which uses Android OS. Some apps uses the gprs automatically to download and show video ads. How do i make apps and others to ask confirmation before connecting to internet?

Note: I have a Wifi router at home to use while at home and i need GPRS when outside so i don’t want to delete the settings.

<span class='registered'>Support</span>

30-07-’12 10:32

Turn off data connection when you are using those apps and when you have Wifi around.
To turn off data connection go to Settings > Wireless and networks > Mobile networks > Data enabled
There you can turn off your GPRS connection.
Actually when you have an active WiFi around and if your phone is successfully connected to it then automatically Android uses WiFi and not GPRS. But it is always better to keep your Data connection off and to turn on only when you need it. It saves battery too.
If you want to control the GPRS privileges application wise then you’ve to root the phone and to use with a Firewall. If interested further support on this can be provided. But we do not recommend rooting the phone. It voids the warranty.
Get used to turn on and off the Data connection. There’s a desktop widget called Status Switch which helps to do this more quickly.

Thank you.

My phone is currently using the previous version of Android version. I heard many people complaining of phone heating and other lag issues when upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.0). My phone, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S.

Should i avoid upgrading? If i upgrade will my contacts, messages, apps and other settings get deleted?

<span class='registered'>Support</span>
Support (URL)
01-08-’12 22:59

Indy, ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) is designed for devices with more than 1GB of RAM. But most of the Xperia releases don’t have this amount of RAM. Therefore after you upgrade phone can operate somewhat slower than it was. But Sony Ericsson has officially launched ICS for many Xperia devices including yours. Therefore it should work fine in your phone too. Also don’t forget the great processing power and features available in ICS that you don’t get in Gingerbread (Android 2.3). The decision of upgrading or not is up to you.
Also there are some good articles about ICS and Xperia available in Sony Mobile blog: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/products/tag..

  • Settings > Wireless & networks > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode*
    Do you see WCDMA only there? If so try selecting it.
    As we have found there are issues with Korean versions of phones as the 3G frequencies are different in Sri Lanka and Korea. Sri Lanka should always go with international version (or i version) of phones.
    Korean phones have 3 sub groups. K, L and S. Unfortunately L version doesn’t support the 3G frequency in Sri Lanka. This doesn’t mean you have L version. Better try playing with Mobile networks menu.

Shifnaz, to have LTE worked in Sri Lanka your phone should support LTE band 3 (1800MHz) frequency. This could be different to the frequencies used in Japan. This applies to HSPA ans EDGE as well.
