Hi Nuwan,
If you set APN type: mms in the settings then Android will automatically use that profile to download MMS. You cannot use this type of profile to browse web. Specially in Mobitel you are advised to use the given MMS profile (wapmms APN) to download MMS instead of mobitel3g APN, because all downloads made thorough this APN will be free of charge so that you won’t we charged for the MMS content downloaded to your mobile phone via GPRS. But in Dialog normally same APN is used for both. Please let us know if we can help in another way.

Thanks for your concern. problem is with mms. GPRS works fine under the APN-mobitel3g. i create two profiles for both GPRS and MMS respectively under APN-mobitel3g and APN-wapmms. according to my knowledge only one profile (mobitel3g) is active. under that profile i cant send or receive mms.

Make sure that you have entered mms to the APN type (not default,supl as GRPS profile) in the profile with wapmms APN. There’s no way to activate a MMS profile on Android. Android automatically detects the suitable profile according to the network being used. Make sure that you have only one profile with mms on APN type where MCC and MNC are 413 and 01 respectively, so that Android system will automatically load that profile to send and receive MMS when you are using Mobitel. Please re-check all settings given above. Make sure that you have activated MMS on your Mobitel connection. Please let us know if we can help in another way.

Hi Nuwan,
We have slightly changed the settings above. Please set Proxy and Port values as modified in above and try. Also try changing the Authentication type to PAP. In the meantime we are working with Mobitel technical team to verify the settings.

@Raveendra:
It seems like Mobitel is having problems with MMS service. Try changing Authentication type to None. Also call 1717 to make sure that MMS is active on your connection.

mchngs, i set it up according to the settings here…it was still failing, i made just one change on my second attempt. Changed the apn type to “MMS” in capitals instead of simples..still didn’t work or was taking an extremely long time, i dunno know why, but instead of just a message saying “service not activated on network” etc it keeps attempting to send without an error message..also once i set it up with capitals i was able to select it as the APN instead of the mobitel3g one…dunno if this helps or points the whole process of setting things up in the right direction…just what i experienced…in the mean time i reset to defaults till things reach solid ground with setting mms up on mobitel…was trying this on a sgs iii running ics 4.0.4

Android only uses the profiles which include mms in the APN type field to send MMS. If it is not mms (not lower case) then it is taken as a non MMS profile and becomes selectable in the menu. Usually MMS profiles cannot be selected. Please contact Mobitel customer care on 1717 and get the MMS service activated on your Mobitel connection so that you will not get the “Service not activated on network” error.

Gave mobitel a call and they say MMS is fine on my connection, its activated etc… that they dont send the settings for the Galaxy series. When i informed that i had infact created a APN and input the proper data i was put on hold and was later told that i must visit a mobitel branch and have it activated manually ? :S… myt as well stick to email for the time being

Mobitel MMS supports non Android mobile phones perfectly. It seems to be a compatibility issue of Mobitel MMS with Android. We are investigating this issue.

Hi Riz,
Check the MMSC. It should be 192.168.50.165 and not 192.168.050.165
Remove the leading zero. Otherwise it wont work. This is a bug in Android.
